Our Policies

This policy applies to all Changes & No-Shows for Accommodations, Tours, and Travel Tickets.

OF MOST IMPORTANCE

This policy applies to all cancellations, changes, and no-shows for accommodations, tours, train tickets, and coach tickets. This policy is applied to everyone equally. No exceptions are made under any circumstances and no part is negotiable. Making our policy firm helps make sure that all of our guests are treated equally and fairly.

We strongly recommend Travel Insurance to protect your investment. 

PAYMENT

Payment must be made in full at the time of booking for all accommodations, tours, train tickets, and coach tickets (except for groups of 9 or more and commercial groups). We accept all major credits or debit cards and cash. Checks are not accepted. Posted accommodation rates are subject to a 7% bed tax.

 

CHECK-IN & CHECK-OUT

Check-in time is 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Please notify us if you plan to arrive after 10:00 PM.

Check-out time is 10:00 AM.

Early check-ins and late check-outs are generally not possible because our staff is busy cleaning; however, we are happy to store your luggage for you at no charge until your accommodation or transportation is ready. Extended luggage storage is available for $5 per bag per day.

 

LATE ARRIVALS & NO-SHOWS

If you arrive after 10:00 PM on the first night of your reservation, we will leave instructions to find your accommodations at the front door of the office. If you still have not arrived by 7:30 AM the next morning (and we have not been contacted by you), then we will mark your reservation as a No-Show. Your reservation will be cancelled and you will not be refunded. If you arrive after your reservation has been cancelled, and you wish to stay on any the remaining nights which you originally booked, you will be charged a change fee.

 

PETS

Well behaved pets of all types are welcome. You must notify us when making your reservation if you plan to bring a pet.

Up to two pets (up to 50 pounds each) are allowed to stay in private accommodations for a fee of $20 per night.

Pets are not allowed to stay in dormitories, however if you are staying in a dormitory you may keep your pet overnight in your vehicle. There is no additional fee for pets staying in vehicles.

Pets are not allowed inside any of the common areas including the Octagon, kitchen, living room, and shower house. Pets must be leashed at all times if they are not in your cabin or tent. Owners must pick up after their pets and dispose of the waste in our outside dumpster. Pet waste should not be disposed of in any other trash can.

You may NOT leave your pet at the hostel while you are gone under any circumstances (not even in a crate or private accommodation). The pet must be kept off the beds and other furnishings for your entire stay, and any messes must be cleaned up right away by the owner. If the pet has an accident inside, please let us know and we will provide the cleaning supplies. Any damages to property will be paid by the owner of the pet.

If your dog barks too much or scares other guests with its aggressiveness, growling, or barking, you and the pet will have to leave without a refund.

 

SMOKING & VAPING

Smoking and vaping of all kinds are strictly prohibited on our property and in all rooms and buildings except for in designated smoking areas.  We want everyone to be able to enjoy the fresh clean air that our remote location has to offer. Guests who do not comply will be charged a $250 room recovery fee in order to restore guest rooms to a smoke-free condition.

 

BOOKING POLICIES SPECIFIC TO ACCOMMODATION TYPE

 

      1. PRIVATE ROOMS, PRIVATE CABINS, & GROUPS UP TO 8 PEOPLE

Cancellations: To be eligible for a refund, you must cancel your reservation at least TWO WEEKS in advance of the reservation. There is a cancellation fee of $10 or 10% of the cancelled reservation (whichever is greater). Cancellations made less than two weeks in advance of the reservation will not be refunded.

Changes: Changes to reservations must be made at least TWO WEEKS in advance of the reservation. For changes that reduce the price of your original reservation, there is a change fee of $10 or 10% (whichever is greater) of the changed portion of the original reservation. For changes which result in no price change, you will be charged $10. Changes made less than two weeks in advance of the reservation will be treated as a cancellation and are subject to the cancellation fee.

 

      2. DORMITORY BEDS & CANVAS CASTLES (FOR GROUPS UP TO 8 PEOPLE)

Cancellations: To be eligible for a refund, you must cancel your reservation at least THREE DAYS in advance of the reservation. There is a cancellation fee of $10 or 10% of the cancelled reservation (whichever is greater). Cancellations made less than three days in advance of the reservation will not be refunded.

Changes: Changes to reservations must be made at least THREE DAYS in advance of the reservation. For changes that reduce the price of your original reservation, there is a change fee of $10 or 10% (whichever is greater) of the changed portion of the original reservation. For changes which result in no price change, you will be charged $10. Changes made less than three days in advance of the reservation will be treated as a cancellation and are subject to the cancellation fee.

 

      3. GROUPS OF 9 OR MORE & COMMERCIAL GROUPS

Payment: Groups of 9 or more and commercial groups are required to pay 20% of the reservation quote at the time of booking. The remaining balance is due 45 days prior to arrival. Failure to pay in full at least 45 days in advance will result in cancellation of the reservation and forfeit of the down payment.

Cancellations: To be eligible for a refund, you must cancel your reservation at least THIRTY DAYS in advance of the reservation. There is a cancellation fee of $25 or 20% of the cancelled reservation (whichever is greater). Cancellations made less than thirty days in advance of the reservation will not be refunded.

Changes: Changes to reservations must be made at least THIRTY DAYS in advance of the reservation. For changes that reduce the price of your original reservation, there is a change fee of $25 or 20% (whichever is greater) of the changed portion of the original reservation. For changes which result in no price change, you will be charged $25. Changes made less than thirty days in advance of the reservation will be treated as a cancellation and are subject to the cancellation fee.

 

TOURS, TRAIN TICKETS, & COACH TICKETS

Cancellations: Each tour and transportation provider has their own specific cancellation policies. These policies can be found with the tour or transportation descriptions on our site. When booking tours or transportation through us, you affirm that you have read policies of the providers and you agree to be bound by them. In addition to any cancellation fees which might be incurred from the provider, you will also be charged a processing fee of $10 per reservation or group of reservations if booked together.
