Flight-seeing is one of the most popular and awe-inspiring tours in Denali. Soar above the Alaska Range and see nothing but an endless sea of mountains, glaciers, snow, and ice! A flight-seeing tour will not only be the highlight of your vacation, but a highlight of your life! When else will you be this close to North America's highest peak?! Trust us, it's worth it.

There are a large number of providers offering varying options and prices and it's a big investment so we have chosen a selection of tours to help you find the experience that's right for you.

If you have questions or are interested in a flight-seeing tour that isn't on this page, please just ask us- we are happy to help and can arrange different options, probably at a discount!

Here is a list of the options with a short description. Click on the Option Number for a detailed description.

Option 1. This tour is a Fly-in/Bus-out trip. You fly on a small plane from the Park Entrance to the end of the Park Road (90 miles) and you return on a Park Shuttle Bus. This is a great way to combine a flight and a bus trip and is one of the best one-day comprehensive tours of Denali National Park. You can add the option of a fly-by of Mt. Denali. This company also offers an EXCLUSIVE DEAL FOR HOSTEL GUESTS ONLY- click this option and scroll down to read about their special stand-by rates exclusively for Denali Hostel & Cabins!
Option 2. Fly with the original flight-seeing company in Denali for a thrilling and inspiring flight around the highest point in North America. Soar amongst the jagged peaks of the Alaska Range on a stunning 200-mile flight through Denali National Park to get within 1/2 mile of Mt. Denali. Weather permitting, this flight will circle Denali to see every spectacular corner of this majestic mountain.
Option 3. Airplane tour departing from the town of Cantwell. They book by the flight instead of by the passenger, which can save you a lot if you are a group of 2 or 3. It's also a great tour to do on your way to Denali from Anchorage or after you get here. You will need your own vehicle to go on this tour.
Option 4. This is a helicopter flight which includes a Glacier Landing. While similar in many ways to the airplane tours, it adds that special experience of flying in a helicopter. This is a very popular tour.
Option 5. Soar to a ridgeline and hike at the top of a mountain! This is a very unique tour known as heli-hiking. You not only get to flight-see and experience flying in a helicopter, you and a naturalist guide fly to a beautiful location East of the Park, land, go on an informative hike, and fly back.
Option 6. This airplane flight departs from the Healy Airstrip, 14 miles north of the Park Entrance. It includes a flight-seeing tour through the Alaska Range and a Glacier Landing! Courtesy pickup and return is available.
Option 7. This tour is based in Talkeetna, which is 140 miles from Denali. Talkeetna is on the route between Denali and Anchorage accessible via personal vehicle, train, or motorcoach. This is an airplane flight over the Denali Base Camp for mountain climbers and tours the south and west sides of the mountain. It has the option to add a Glacier Landing.
Option 8. This tour is based in Talkeetna, which is 140 miles from Denali. Talkeetna is on the route between Denali and Anchorage accessible via personal vehicle, train, or motorcoach. This airplane tour covers more terrain in Denali National Park than any other flight-seeing tour, and it has the option to add a Glacier Landing.

Option #1A: Denali Park Day Excursion Fly/Bus Option

Flybus.jpg

What will I see?:

This tour is very unique, and one of our favorites! Nearly all visitors to Denali take one of the park buses into the park and we highly recommend it. We also recommend you take the bus in as far as possible. That increases the chances of seeing wildlife and the views of Denali are spectacular near the road's end at either Wonder Lake or Kantishna. The only drawback is that it takes sitting on a bus for 12 to 13 hours. That is what makes this tour such a hit. You take a 35 (or optional 55) minute flight from the park entrance area into the former gold-mining camp of Kantishna (90+ road miles into the park from the entrance) and then a 5 to 6-hour National Park shuttle bus ride back out to the park entrance area. You get your bus tour and flight-seeing done all in one day. That's like freeing up an entire day of your vacation to do more.

This tour is one of the best Alaska wilderness tours; it's an excellent day-trip to experience Denali National Park from the air AND the ground and a great value for the budget-minded, independent traveler- like you!

Most guests do not find binoculars helpful during the flight but feel free to bring binoculars if you’d like.

Due to FAA regulations, passengers are not permitted to bring carry-on bags on our flights. Passengers must carry all small personal items, such as cameras and phones. Passengers are encouraged to leave any backpacks and purses in a secure location in our office.

What to Wear:

Sunglasses, long pants & closed toe shoes are always recommended. From May to the middle of September wear a light/medium jacket (layers are always a sure thing in Alaska).   From mid September to April a heavy jacket, hat, boots and gloves are recommended.  Over-boots (gore-tex galoshes) are provided - these fit over your shoes for glacier landing flights.

Cancellations:

In order to cancel a reservation and receive a full refund a customer must cancel at least 48 hours prior to their scheduled departure or reservation time. If you cancel your flight with less than 48 hours notice, you will not receive a refund. If the provider cancels your flight and you are unable to reschedule, you will receive a full refund.
